    Harvey Fierstein is an American playwright and actor. His book for La Cage Aux Folles won the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical in 1984. He also wrote the books for musicals such as Kinky Boots, Newsies and A Catered Affair. Other Broadway writing credits include Torch Song Trilogy and Casa Valentina. As an actor, Mr. Fierstein has won the Tony Award twice for his starring roles in Torch Song Trilogy and Hairspray. He stepped into Albin/Zaza’s shoes for the most recent Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles and reprised the role of Edna Turnblad for Hairspray Live! in December 2016.

    JERRY HERMAN – Music & Lyrics

    Jerry Herman is an American composer and lyricist, best known for his work in musical theatre. He composed the scores for several hit Broadway musicals, including Hello, Dolly!, Mame and Mack & Mabel. He has been nominated for the Tony Award five times, and won twice for La Cage Aux Folles and Hello, Dolly!. In 2009, Mr. Herman received the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. He is a recipient of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1982.

    GLEN GOEI – Director

    Glen’s substantial body of work encompasses a wide range of the performing arts, including theatre, film, parades and world expos. Highlights include his Olivier Award-nominated performance in the title role of M. Butterfly opposite Anthony Hopkins in London’s West End; and his critically acclaimed feature films, Forever Fever and The Blue Mansion. Glen has also made significant contributions to Singapore’s theatre scene. Since 2002, Glen has served as the Associate Artistic Director of W!LD RICE, for which he has directed hits such as HOTEL, Public Enemy, The Importance of Being Earnest, Cook a Pot of Curry, Emily of Emerald Hill and Boeing Boeing.

    ELAINE CHAN – Music Director

    This award-winning music director/composer/arranger/vocal coach has music-directed, composed and arranged for several major musicals on the Singapore stage, notably: most of W!LD RICE’s pantomimes, the fabulous RICE BALLS and La Cage Aux Folles (2012); Toy Factory’s December Rains, 881 The Musical and Glass Anatomy; and Dream Academy’s Into the Woods, Dim Sum Dollies and Broadway Beng. She has also produced arrangements and orchestrations for the National Day Parade (2013, 2005), MOE’s Youth Celebrate! and Mediacorp’s The Dance Floor. Her scores for Cinderel-LAH! and Monkey Goes West were nominated for Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards.

    LISA KEEGAN – Choreographer

    Lisa has over 30 years of experience as a performer and choreographer. To date, she has choreographed more shows than she can count and created some of Asia’s largest and most prestigious events, providing artistic direction as well as costume/music design and choreography. Lisa has worked alongside top international artists, including Whitney Houston, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Céline Dion and Vanessa Mae. She has choreographed shows in venues like Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium, Wembley Arena, Barcelona’s Museu Nacional d’Art and The Esplanade. She credits her style of work to her diverse and international training in different dance forms and to the talented people and performers she works with.

    MAC CHAN – Lighting Designer

    Mac’s work in theatre lighting design has taken him around the world, from Malaysia to Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, the US, South Africa and Australia. He has served as the lighting designer for Singapore’s National Day Parade five times: from 2009 to 2012 and, most recently, in 2016. Major theatre credits include Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical (Enfiniti Productions, 2006) and Cabaret (Toy Factory, 2009). His work with W!LD RICE includes La Cage Aux Folles (2012), Emily of Emerald Hill (2011) and Beauty World (2008). He is a proud member of OISTAT (International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians) under UNESCO.

    FREDERICK LEE – Costume Designer

    Frederick’s couture fashion-as-performance-art theatricality has made him one of Singapore’s most sought-after designers. Innovatively using non-traditional materials to realise his extraordinary vision, Lee’s award-winning work often pushes the envelope on fashion design as we know it. Apart from Frederick Bridal, his own couture boutique, he has designed costumes for the National Day Parade as well as the 2010 Youth Olympics Games in Singapore. To support his friends in the theatre, Frederick has designed costumes for the likes of W!LD RICE’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Dream Academy’s Dim Sum Dollies and The Theatre Practice’s If There’re Seasons. He has won two Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards for Best Costume Design.

    JOEL MANUEL FERNANDEZ – Sound Designer

    Joel began his career as part of the sound crew for Singapore’s Disney Fest in 1997. That same year, he worked on his first professional musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Joel has been an integral part of the sound team for several local music festivals, such as the Esplanade’s Mosaic Music Festival and Baybeats. This is his third major production with W!LD RICE, after serving as the sound engineer for HOTEL in both 2015 and 2016. Joel is also the proud father of five-year-old social media sensation Ayra Fernandez.

    ASHLEY LIM – Hair Designer

    Ashley started his hairstyling career in 1986 and set up Ashley Salon in 1999 to further pursue his dedication towards the art of hairdressing, especially for the theatre. Since 1987, he has worked on over 300 productions locally and abroad. He is privileged to be widely recognised by the local theatre community as a veteran in his artistry. Some of his most memorable creations include his headpieces for Forbidden City and Monkey Goes West. Recent credits include HOTEL and Grandmother Tongue at W!LD RICE’s 2016 Singapore Theatre Festival; The Theatre Practice’s Liao Zhai Rocks! and Dream Academy’s Broadway Beng: 10th Anniversary Concert. He recently took home the Lifetime Achievement Award for Theatre, presented by Mediacorp.

    THE MAKE UP ROOM – Make-Up Designer

    Comprising Bobbie Ng and Low Jyue Huey, The Make Up Room has been passionately involved in designing make-up for local theatre productions for the past 13 years. Some of The Make Up Room’s recent projects include W!LD RICE’s Monkey Goes West, Dream Academy’s Broadway Beng, SRT’s Romeo & Juliet, Toy Factory’s Kumarajiva, The Theatre Practice’s Liao Zhai Rocks!, the 2016 National Day Parade and various shows at the 2016 Singapore International Festival of Arts. Their make-up artistry also extends to weddings and an academy through which they share their skills and knowledge with aspiring make-up artists.

    TONY TRICKETT – Producer

    Born in Liverpool, Tony moved to Singapore from the UK in 1997. Prior to joining W!LD RICE, he worked as a management consultant, specialising in leadership coaching and team development for multi-national companies. Tony acted as a consultant in the establishment of W!LD RICE and became a director of the company in 2001. In August 2002, he was appointed Executive Director, responsible for the overall management of the company. Tony is the producer for all W!LD RICE shows, both in Singapore and abroad. He also produced the acclaimed 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2016 Singapore Theatre Festivals, which he conceived together with Artistic Director Ivan Heng.
